So, part of the plan for while we are away is to try and detour to as many random places as possible and this is covered a little bit in our About Us page and after all it is the name of our blog. Some of the detours we have already planned, like going to Moose Jaw or trying to get to Rough and Ready. However, we also need some input from people in the know, just like you. So far we’ve had friends point out the Tunnels of Moose Jaw and Ellis Island Casino and Brewey; but we need more. I’ve had family members talk about a beautiful, winding scenic route from Flagstaff up to the Grand Canyon but that can’t be the only hidden gem that you lovely people know about.
The trick is that in the United States and Canada the distances we will be covering and our visa lengths mean that detouring will have to be kept in check – but hell we get 180 days in Mexico so if you know of a place then please, please, please get in touch. Try to not get us in too much bother but that is all part of the adventure right?
One of my colleagues had a mate that went off into the big wide world and he got people to take polls for his next destination. Granted I think he was taking flights so it was higher stakes and quicker, but hey man I think this could work on a bike; why not??? I’m not completely sure that Sophie will be 100% game, but I love the idea. Also, if we can’t decide between the east or west coast of Costa Rica then why not involve you guys?
So, in a nutshell, if you know somewhere awesome that we shouldn’t miss out on then get in touch. Cheers in advance folk, I know you’re going to have some amazing suggestions.

In Mexico can you go to Chicken Itza http://www.historvius.com/chichen-itza-25/, as I'm sure I once built it on Civilization and it looks great. if you get to Peru, please go see the Nazca lines

If you are visiting the rockies, I recommend Headsmashedinbufallojump (for the name alone!) It is a First Nation reservation in Alberta – just south of Calgary I think. Good luck & enjoy the journey

Yosemite is worth a visit for sure. Might be worth watching a show called "the great divide" where athletes cycle from Canada to Mexico.

Yosemite is quite high on the list already but it's such a vast area do you know of anything we shouldn't miss while we are there? And thanks for the tip on "The Great Divide" we're have a search and see if we can watch it soon. Cheers for the suggestions

Ride the Icefields parkway between Lake Louise and Jasper. Even if it's not quite on the route, just ride one way and back again – that's what we did to fit it in. Best road I have ever ridden!!

Hi Jo. Thank you for the suggestion. It works really well because we can drop down early before Edmonton (sorry Edmonton), so through the Icefields, head off towards Calgary before making our way towards Sarah's shout out for Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump. Thank you so much for the idea. Brilliant

Hi Jo, just thought I'd drop you a line to say thank you so much for the suggestion down the Icefields Parkway; it was truly amazing. We loved the glaciers, the mountains and the fantastic lakes. It is probably our favourite road too.

Been following you guys on and off and glad to see that you enjoyed it! Finding your blog useful as we are setting off on a big bike ride (don't like to say round the world in case we don't get that far) in Spetember and will hopefully be crossing the U.S. next summer. Keep your heads up, in my experience life on a bike is like the mountains… Without the lows you don't get the highs – who wants to ride flat roads all day…. Great job on the blog and enjoy Canada.
